SPCA's growing collection of reading response activities

Here you will find SPCA's collection of reading response activities for texts within the Ministry of Education's instructional reading series that feature animals.

Each SPCA reading response activity is designed to follow shared or guided reading with the associated instructional text and be used in conjunction with SPCA's Kids' Portal. 

SPCA’s reader response activities can be used during instructional reading times to engage the rest of the class in active learning, whilst the classroom teacher is working with small groups of students, or as a whole class learning activity following shared reading of the associated text.

TIPS:

• For home learning, download the digital copy of the print book and audio MP3 file here. 

• Make SPCA's reading response activities a regular task on your class reading tumble or task board.

• SPCA reading response activities make great purposeful homework activities for children to complete with their families.

• Print out and laminate each reader response activity sheet, then store them alongside the associated readers within your school book room, for your colleagues to see, photocopy and then use with their class!
